Import readers from another platform

tuhat lets writers keep their reader list portable. The subscriber import lives at /subscribers and accepts pasted CSV.

Before you import

Export subscribers from the old platform as CSV.

Import only people who asked to receive your writing by email.

Leave out unsubscribed, bounced, suppressed, or purchased lists.

Keep the original export somewhere safe until the move is done.

Accepted formats

The fastest format is one reader per line:

alice@example.com,Alice Reader
bob@example.com
carol@example.com,Carol

tuhat also understands Substack-style exports with headers. It keeps the email address, name, paid/free type, subscription source, and start date when those columns are present. Analytics columns such as opens and clicks are ignored.

Import steps

  1. 1 Sign in and choose the account you want to import into.
  2. 2 Open /subscribers.
  3. 3 Click Import subscribers.
  4. 4 Paste the CSV or address list.
  5. 5 Review the imported, skipped, and rejected counts.
  6. 6 Send a short welcome post so readers understand the move.

Good migration etiquette

A reader import is not just a technical step. Tell people why they are receiving mail from tuhat, where they originally subscribed, and how to unsubscribe. tuhat includes unsubscribe links in sends; clear context in the first post reduces confusion.
